Staff Book Clubs
As lifelong learners, staff at Bridge have initiated two book clubs this year to continue their journeys of truth and reconciliation as well as to support all of our learners including students with disabilities.
Our Teacher-Librarian will be leading a monthly discussion based on the new book by Carolyn Roberts, Re-Storying Education: Decolonizing Your Practice Using a Critical Lens.
Our Educational Assistants will also be gathering together to read and discuss Kate Swenson's, Forever Boy: A Mother's Memoir of Autism and Finding Joy.
Update January 2025: Our EA Team is now reading The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, to learn more about "how the great rewiring of childhood is causing an epidemic of mental illness.
Update May 2025: The last two books that our EA Team will be reading and learning from this year include: Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper, as well as Reclaiming Our Students: Why Children are More Anxious, Aggressive, and Shut Down Than Ever-And What We Can Do About It, written by Hannah Beach and Tamara Neufeld Strijack.
We have copies of these books available in the office for Parents and Caregivers to borrow.
