2025/26 School Learning Story Focus
Focus statement
For the 2025/26 school year our school’s learning focus is: Numeracy. Bridge has been focusing on building community and well-being for students through their Building Bridges of Kindness initiative. This year we will look deeper into how students’ sense of belonging and identity impacts them as a learner, specifically in numeracy. How does the way students view themselves as learners affect them academically?
The students were asked: Do you like math?
Wonders:
Do students engage to their full potential when they do not enjoy the subject?
How can we change student’s perception of math?
Action Statement
This year we will engage in Professional Development and collaboration around mathematics and numeracy. This will include:
- Learning with other schools
- Sessions with district consultants – Shaheen Musani (Numeracy and assessment) and Jonathan Tang (Numeracy)
- Collaboration with similar grade colleagues
- Collaboration with McRoberts math teachers and upper intermediate teachers from other feeder schools
- Exploration of the tools we already have and search out what we discover we need
Evidence Statement
Student and staff will be asked to share about the learning journey. There is information from the beginning of the year, and we will compare it to information that is gathered later in the year. We may also see a change in Learning Updates/Summaries and FSA data.
